As Your Family’s Needs Shift, Final Orders May Need To Be Modified

Changes in your circumstances of you or the circumstances of your children may warrant a modification of custody or child support. In these situations, it may be necessary to revisit the order and petition for a change (referred to as a modification) to the plan. Because this modification involves the wellbeing of you and your children, you will need an experienced family law attorney by your side.

In all custody for modifications, the judge will keep the “best interest of the child” first and foremost in determining if there are grounds for a modification. To be successful in your petition for modification, you will be required to show that a substantial change in circumstances has occurred to make the original agreement improper for your current situation.
